GKIDS To Release ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Feature In The U.S. Beginning July 16
GKIDS announced today that it has acquired theatrical distribution rights in North America to Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death – The Movie.
It will release the film in the U.S., in both original Japanese and English-dubbed versions, beginning July 16th.
Here’s what we know about the production:
- The theatrical compilation feature follows the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” story arc of the Jujutsu Kaisen series, which focused on the younger days of Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, who shared a deep bond that was tested by one fateful mission. This theatrical installment was originally broadcast as part of the series, but will feature newly-remixed sound.
- This film is the first new release from the Jujutsu Kaisen property since the end of the series’ second season in December 2023, and the first theatrical feature from the franchise since Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which grossed over $188 million globally. It is the first time GKIDS has distributed a Jujutsu Kaisen title.
- Jujutsu Kaisen, based on the manga of the same name by Gege Akutami, is produced by Toho Animation and animated by MAPPA.
- The compilation film is being released theatrically in Japan on May 30. Last month, a new trailer was released that previewed a new acoustic version of Tatsuya Kitani’s “Where Our Blue Is,” which was previously used as the opening theme song for the television broadcast of the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc.
